SOVIET DISPUTES WITH JAPAN
AMBASSADOR REQUESTS SETTLEMENT
“FINAL ANSWER” DEMANDED FROM TOKYO
(Received April 28, 11.30 p.m.) MOSCOW, ApriJ 28. Acting* on instructions from Moscow. M. Mikhail Slavutsky, Soviet Ambassador to Tokyo, demanded a “final answer” from the Foreign Minister (Mr Koki Hirota) as to whether Japan was ready to discuss the settlement of outstanding Russian-Japanese differences. The chief issue is the suspension of payment for the Chinese Eastern Railway. .
