APPEAL FOR SPANISH CHILDREN
VO TBS EDITOR or THR PRESS. Sir, —We beg to thank you for your kind co-operation in the appeal for help for Spanish children refugees. The 'more recent call for help from those
suffering in China has, to some extent, overshadowed the Spanish situation, but the need is still great. Repatriation of children who were taken to England has commenced, and even should the conflict cease, there is still much to do to assist those who are helpless and innocent victims. The total contributions for New Zealand have reached the sum of £596 14s 6d, of which £5Bl 11s 8d N.Z. (equalling £467 3s 2d sterling) has been remitted to London for use of the National Joint Committee through the Society of Friends Service Council. Expenses for printing, postages, etc.. have been kept as low as possible, and at a total cost of £ls Is 4d. leaving a balance in hand of Is 6d. We hope you may feel able to extend to all those who contributed to the fund our great thanks. The fund will not be closed as long as the need is -there. Any further contributions will be gladly and gratefully acknowledged by the treasurer.—Yours, etc., MRS R. V. HUGHES. April 28, 1938.
