CHURCH, HALL, AND HOUSE BURNED DOWN
WELLINGTON. April 25. The Porirua Methodist Church, the Druids Hall, and a house next door were destroyed by to at midnight. But for the assistance from the Porirua Mental Hospital, from which hose was obtained* the fire would nave swept the whole block of houses and shops. The house destroyed was occupied by Mr T. Evans, who, being aroused by cries of fice, drove a car to the hospital. and brought back a hose and a number of helpers. His house was beyond saving, but others nearby escaped with a scorching.
