PLAN FOR GREAT EXTENSIONS TO PANAMA (Received April 7, 12.5 a.m.)
WASHINGTON, April 6,
The Administration has shelved a proposal to build at a cost of 1,000,000,000 dollars an inter-ocean
canal across Nicaragua. Instead it is considering expanding the Panama Canal at a cost of 200,000,000 dollars to increase its capacity fivefold. •
