LAMB MORTALITY
TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS, Sir, —Mr L. H. Frew’s letters on the above subject are of considerable interest to farmers. Mr Frew has no hesitation in pitting his' opinions against the world’s leading authorities on the subject. In one breath he condemns nicotinebluestone and all the advice given by departmental officers, as useless. He is equally emphatic that carbon tetrachloride is useless. In short, one drench only (unspecified) will eradicate all intestinal worms and particularly lung worms. One is constrained to ask some pertinent questions. Perhaps Mr Frew will withdraw his statement that “this is my final letter on this subject” and answer these questions so that farmers may be better able to judge the value of his opinions. (1) Is Mr Frew a farmer? (2) What qualifications either academic or otherwise has he? (3) Does he realise that departmental officers are not permitted to reply to letters such as his?— Yours, etc., ■% W. S. ALLAN, M.Agr.Sc. April 6, 1938.
