1 OFFICIAL FORECASTS [THE PRESS Special Service,j WELLINGTON, April 6. The weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough, issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Light to fresh north-east to • northerly winds, turning during Thursday morning to south-west-erlies. Weather for the most part fair to cloudy, and mild; but some scattered and mainly light rains probable. Seas slight to moderate. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate to fresh north-east to northerly winds, turning later to south-easterlies. Weather cloudy, warm, and humid, with occasional rain. Some scattered heavy falls probable. Seas slight to moderate. DOMINION The Dominion forecast is:— Weather mainly cloudy to overcast, and humid, with scattered rains in most districts; but more especially northern and western! temperatures still mild to warm. An anti-cyclone is now centred east of New Zealand. A depression is still located over the North Tasman Sea, near Lord Howe Island, while a shallow westerly disturbance is approaching across the • south Tasman. Winds —North-east to northerly, light to moderate generally; but freshening about and south of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Moderate to rather rough north of East Cape; elsewhere slight to moderate; but rising later in the Cook and Foveaux Strait areas. Eastern Tasman Sea—Light to moderate, but freshening north-east to northerly winds, turning to southerlies or south-easterlies later in the southern portion. Seas moderate mainly, but rough in parts of the central and northern portions. CHRISTCHURCH WfeATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was dull with intervals of sunshine. There was a fresh breeze from the north-east. The maximum temperature during the day was 62.2 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was cloudy and a strong northeast breeze was blowing.
