ROAD SAFETY CAMPAIGN
MOTOR-CYCLE CLUBS HOLD CONFERENCE
The establishment of a national road fellowship league and the appointment of auxiliary motor-cycle road patrols were discussed at a representative conference of Christchurch motor-cycle clubs last evening. The object of the meeting was to discuss the launching of a general road safety campaign among local motorcycle clubs and, if possible, to enlist local and national traffic authorities in the campaign. Delegates were unanimously agreed that education among the younger generation ol motor-cyclists in the use of the road and road courtesy was the chief factor in reducing road accidents.
Mr T. Milliken, chairman of the City Council’s traffic committee, addressed the meeting, and the chief traffic inspector, Mr J. Brourton, formulated several ideas for discussion.
