LABOUR CANDIDATES ENDORSEMENTS FOR SEVEN SEATS CP&KSB ASSOCIATION TH.XOBAM.) WELLINGTON. April 6. Seven further candidates, including six sitting members, have been endorsed by the National Executive of the Labour Party to represent Labour at the General Election. They are: Messrs J. G. Barclay. M.P. (Marsden), A. H. Nordmeyer, M.P. (Oamaru), D. Barnes. M.P. (Waitaki), H. M. Christie, M.P. (Waipawa), D. G. McMillan, M.P. (Dunedin West), W. M. C. Denham, M.P. (Invercargill), and G. A. Hansen (Pahiatua).
NATIONAL PARTY SUPPORTERS MEET AT WAIKUKU An explanation of the plan and scheme of the New Zealand National Party was given by Mr Poulton, chief divisional organiser, to a meeting of the party’s supporters at Waikuku. A committee was formed to carry out the party’s activities in the district. It was decided that a further committee be elected shortly for Woodend.
LABOUR NOMINATIONS FOR HURUNUI Four nominations for candidates for the Hurunui electorate in the General Election have been received by the North Canterbury Labour Representation Committee. The names have not been announced. Steps will be taken to compile a roll for the purpose of holding a ballot in the electorate Arrangements for holding a ballot for the Riccarton candidate are not yet complete.
