SOCIAL AND PERSONAL Mr and Mrs F. H. Drewitt (Grosvenor Hotel) have left by the Awatea on a visit to Sydney. Miss' Olive Hassell (“Carshalton,” North street) is visiting her sister, Mrs J. Barrie Martin, Wellington. Mrs P. C. Vinnell (Otipua road) left yesterday on a visit to Otago Central. Mrs J. E. Macassey (Dunedin), who was the guest of Mrs E. S. Elworthy, Four Peaks, has returned south. Miss Ethel Shanks (Akaroa) is staying with her mother, Mrs J. G.'Shanks, “Waikora,” Grey road. Mrs J. D. Douglas, who has been visiting Timaru, has returned to Greymouth.
Miss Ethel Willis, who was staying with Mrs Arthur Wigley, Lodge,” Park lane, returned to Christchurch yesterday.
BALCAIRN HALL COMMITTEE SOCIAL
The first of the euchre and dance socials of the Balcairn Hall Committee was held recently, there being a large attendance. Competitions were won by Misses M. Johnston and D. Bray, Messrs D. Wyllie, and S. Wilson. Music was played by Mrs McNally. Messrs J. Smith, J. Demmocks, and T. Stanley were masters of ceremonies.
