GAS-MASKS FOR BRITONS

FAR AHEAD OF ANY OTHER COUNTRY THIRTY MILLION RESPIRATORS NOW AVAILABLE (tIMITED PRESS ASSOCIATIOM—COPYRIGHT.) (Received April 5, 9.5 p.m.) LONDON, April 5. The military correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” states that Britain, according to a high authority, is now far ahead of any other country in the production and planned distribution of gas-masks. Of these 3C 000,000 are available, including a special device for babies. Production is continuing at the rate of 500,000 a week*. Respirators will not be issued to householders until an emergency arises, because suitable storage is essential. The Home Office has circulated plans to local authorities for distributing a gas-mask to everybody within eight hours of an air raid. Wardens will make a house-to-house canvass to ascertain the number and sizes of gas-masks required.
