OFFICIAL FORECASTS (THE PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, April 5. The weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough, issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Light to fresh winds, with southeast to north-east predominating. Weather cloudy, humid, and mild, with some scattered light rains and in places fog. Seas, slight to moderate. WEST COAST The forecast for the’ West Coast oft the South Island is:— Light to moderate north-easterly winds prevailing. Weather mainly fair to cloudy, and humid, but with scattered rains. Temperatures mild to warm. Seas, slight to moderate.

DOMINION The Dominion forecast is:—

Weather mainly cloudy to overcast and humid. Scattered rains still probable, and becoming more widespread, light to moderate in most cases, but with some heavy local falls. Temperatures mild to warm. Some morning fogs. Pressure is high from smith-eastern Australia across the south Tasman Sea to beyond New Zealand. A depression is, however, located over the north-west Tasman Sea near Norfolk Island, while a slight disturbance has been crossing the South Island.

Winds—North-easterlies prevailing over most of the North Island, but south-easterlies or southerlies about and south of Cook Strait, force light to moderate, but freshening somewhat, especially in the Cook Strait area. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Rather rough north of East Cape, elsewhere slight to moderate: but later rising in ihe Cook Strait area.

Eastern , Tasman Sea—Winds between south-east and north-east, moderate to strong in the northern and central portions, with rather rough to rough seas. Elsewhere, light to moderate, with moderate seas. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER
