SUMNER HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
Mr S. K. Bassett presided over a meeting of those interested in an autumn flower show at Sumner. It was decided to hold a chrysanthemum show in the Sumner Town Hall, op Saturday, April 30. The following officials were elected: Patron, Mr W. H. Nicholson; vice-patron, Mr G. F, Allen; chairman, Mr P. Dick; secretary, Mrs K. Brake; president, Mr T. B. Boulton; vice-presidents, Messrs "E. X,. H. Brown, G. E. Claydon, Cant, S. K. Bassett, J. D. Edmonds, W. J. Sim, J- E. Tait, S. W. Hickrhott, P. Keig, N. Craw, Dr. Telford, Dr. R. P. Bakewell, and Mesdames p. R, Climie, E. Spence-Clark, and Misses Wilson and Farmer. The following committees were set up:— Flower stall, Mesdames Spence-Clark and Baker; cake stall, Mrs E. T. Chitty; work and bran tub, Mrs A. McDowell; sweets, Mrs L. P. Longuet, delicatessen and produce, Mesdames Stevens, Munton, and Climie; side-shows, Messrs Cant and Brake: lunch and afternoon tea, Mesdames P. Dick and Dimond; baby show, Mrs Cant; competitions, Messrs P. Dick and Cant.
It was decided to give a quarter share of the profits to each of the following: Sumner Girl Guides, Sumner Ambulance Divisions, and the Sumner Beautifying Society, and to retain the balance for future use*
