A late sale of New Zealand Government 4 per cent, stock, due 1955, on Monday was reported at £lO4 10s, and buyers yesterday offered £lO4 7s 6d. without attracting sellers. Bank of New Zealand changed hands at 43s 6d and 43s 3d, and more were wanted at 43s 4d, sellers at 43s 3d. South British Insurance moved up to 45s 9d, closing quotations 3d on either side. Goldsbrough, Morts receded to 30s sd, market closing 2d either way. New Zealand Guarantee Corporation had dealings at 4s 5d and 4s 6d, but closed with sellers at 4s 4d, buyers at 4s 3d. ‘ New Zealand Refrigerating (10s paid) were firm at 8s Id. New Zealand Breweries were easier with sellers and business at '4ss 4d. buyers at 45s 2d. Miscellaneous Andersens, Ltd., first preference had business at 18s, and more were wanted at that price. Broken Hill Proprietary appeared stronger with dealings at 60s 9d and 60s 4d, market closing 60s Id buyers, 60s 6d sellers; the contributing declined to 31s, and more were wanted at 30s lid. An odd parcel of D.I.C. changed hands at 14s 6d. Electrolytic Zinc ordinary were fractionally firmer at 44s sd. United Provisions were dealt in at 6s 3d, Woolworths, Ltd., were firmer with dealings at 26s 6d and 26s Bd, and further buyers at 26s 6d, sellers at 26s 9d. Minins Gillespie’s Beach had business at lOd, and there were further sellers at that price. Grey River (10s paid) remained unaltered at 12s 7d, closing quotations Id on either side. The Waimate Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s annual ram fair was held in unsuitable weather at Kitchener Park, Waimate. to-day. There was a small attendance of buyers, bidding was slow, and prices for the most part were lower. The entries were smaller than those of last year. There was very little demand for Romneys, and most of the pens were passed. Three lots of English Lelcesters—• the only pens of the breed at the fair—were passed. . , In the unregistered sheep, four one-shear Border Leicester-Southdown cross rams were sold by S. J. ALL SECTIONS QUIET

(bt oca coioiXßcui. sortom.) Tuesday evening. A small but steady trade continues in small seeds, but the grain and produce markets are by no means lively. Deliveries of cocksfoot and ryegtass from the country have tapered off, and it appears that practically the whole crop has been handled. Prices ate unaltered. There is a strong demand for certified ryegrass, which is not in heavy “"fees of white clover are beginning to come in, though they have not yet reached large proportions. The colour of the bulk of the seed so far seen Is not good. Prospects are for a short crop locally. Very little red clover has been offered yet, but quality promises to be good. Prices will not be high. Potatoes are exceptionally quiet. Growers are asking £4 on trucks, but in the absence of any indication of what is likely to happen in the South American trade, buyers are not in the market.
