LAMB MORTALITY

to tub editor op the press. Sir, —Having interested myself in the heavy death-rate among lambs in the Ashourton district during the last five or six weeks. I should be pleased it any farmers can confirm the following statement. In every post-mortem I have carried out on scouring lambs, I have discovered that death is due to parasitic pneumonia; 95 per cent, of dead lambs haemorrhage at the nose. The lambs arc ravenous for salt and water. Has any farmer or veterinary surgeon made these observations? If so. what can be done? —Yours, etc.. L. H. FREW, Ashburton, March 19, 1938.
