CAR WRECKED FOUR OCCUPANTS INJURED (T.BES3 ASSOCIATION TELEGBAU.) PAHIATUA, March 7. A car containing four people travelling towards Masterton on Saturday afternoon about 6 o'clock crashed into and broke off a telegraph post on the Main road soon after leaving Fahiatua. ... „ The driver, Edward Serra, residing at Masterton, received cuts on the face and bruised an arm. The other front-seat occupant, Michael Ford, was knocked unconscious. He was taken by ambulance to the Pahiatua Hospital. An examination revealed a broken arm and crushed chest. Later he regained consciousness. Two young women in the back seat. Misses Eileen Ford and Dolly Broadbent, also residing at Masterton, received cuts on the face, but otherwise had a marvellous escape. The car a sedan, veered a distance of more than 60 yards along the road before striking the pole which was broken clean off two feet above the ground. The car is almost a total wreck. CYCLIST KNOCKED DOWN While he was cycling to his home in Peraki street, Kaiapoi, about 8.5 am. yesterday, Daniel Kane nightwatchman at the Kaiapoi Woollen Mills, suffered a fracture of the left ankle, through being knocked down by a motor-car at the corner of Raven and Black streets. Kane was attended by Dr M H. Aiken, of Kaiapoi, and was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital by the St. John Ambulance Brigade. WOMAN KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR Injuries to the left leg and ankle were suffered by Mrs M. A. Cox, of 86 Studholme street, when she was knocked down by a car in Somerfjeld street, Sydenham, at 12.15 o'clock this morning. Mrs Cox was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital. She is not in a serious condition.
