VISIT OF ENGLISH SCHOOLBOYS

ARRANGEMENTS FOR TOUR A full programme has been arranged by the Tourist Department for the visit of a party of 20 English schoolboys, who arrived at Wellington yesterday, when they were given a reception by the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage). They will spend a fortnight in the South Mand, arriving in Nelson to-morrow, where they will inspect the Cawthron Institute, and later in the morning they will proceed through the Buller Gorge to Westport. They will later visit Waiho Gorge and the Franz Josef Glacier. Between next Sunday and March 16 the boys will cross from Welcome Flat hut to the Hermitage. Excursions will be arranged to various parts, including the Tasman Glacier. Those who are billeting the boys in their homes in Christchurch will meet the express train on the evening of March 17. Next morning the boys will inspect the New Zealand Refrigerating Company's works, and at noon will be welcomed at a civic reception by the Mayor (Mr J. W. Beanland). They will have lunch at the Sign of the Takahe. On the morning of March 19 a visit will be made to the estate of Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, where there will be a demonstration of sheepdipping. The boys will have lunch at Christ's College, and will attend a polo match ta the/afternoon, • From March 19 until March 23 they will be scattered throughout Mid-Can-terbury, and will reassemble in Christchurch to leave for Wellington on j March 23.
