Dead-heat .The. each-way favourite,' Lady Meath, niade a good bid for victory in -the Waiuku Hack Handicap, but she could only dead-heat with the little-fancied Poker Face, who paid double figures on the straight-out machine. Fleetwind and Yarrawin were slow away, Vaalso and May Song being smartest away. Forest Acre ran to the front after going a furlong, from Flashing Spear, Lady Meath, and Enlightenment. Crosing the top Poker Face moved up smartly to join Forest Acre in the lead, and they came into the straight together ahead of Lady Meath, May Song, Enlightenment, and Flashing Spear. Once in line for the post Lady " Meath challenged and got up to deadbeat for first with Poker Face. Forest Acre battled on solldlly to be a long neck away third, and May Song was fourth, Will Chief Lap, School Song, and Fleetwind next. , Poker Face registered his best performance .to date. Backers’ Good Judgment The public was Tight on the mark in the Puni Hurdles when the favourites, Bryce Street and Day Boy, finished first and second. Brioni stopped at the first fence and Dombey made play early from Windsot Lass, whose rider made, a remarkable recovery after being almost off at the second fence. Day Boy, My Money, Mia Acra, and Bryce Street. Four furlongs from home Day Boy and Bryce Street went Past Dombey, and afterwards had the contest to themselves. Bryce Street gained art advantage at the last fence, but had , to be ridden right out to win by a short head from Day Boy, who defeated Mia Aora by six lengths. Dombey was fourth, followed by Anagram and My Money. The first and second horses outclassed the others and Bryce Street was just a little too- seasoned for Day Boy, who Is on the Improve and likely to win soon. ; . A Decisive Win Five scratchings obviated the necessity for divisions in the Bombay Handicap, Which the second fancy. Bronze Wing, won very decisively from Silver Eagle and General Riske, who paid fine place dividends. The field gave a good deal of )■,- treble, The Trimmer, Paddy the Rip, and \w»yiid Nation being badly left. Asset, Feld■T berg,' and High Sea were the first to become prominent. Asset leading across the top from Feldberg, High Sea. Very Glad. Town Section, and Silver Eagle. Asset led into the straight from High Sea, Feldhorg. and Bronze Wing, who had run up smartly, ahead of Silver Eagle. A furlong from the post Bronze Wing came through to win easily from Silver Eagle, who ®ame home well in spite of the fact that he ran out very wide in the straight. General Riske finished on to Just beat High Sea for third, Rosant and Nugget also being close up. Bronze Wing won well. Paso Robles in Form The improving Paso Robles registered his best performance to date narrowly to defeat the each-way favourite Grateful in the Franklin Cup, Grateful attempted to lead all the way, and after making play early from Rona Bay, Kilonsa, Sinking FUnd, and Tybalt was followed Into the straight by Paso Robles, who ran up quickly approaching the turn, Rona Bay. Miss Lu. and Jewelled Girdle. In a SOpd race to the post Paso Robles won With a little in hand by a short neck from QjSteful, who hung on solidly under pressure. Kilonsa fought on very gamely to be a head away third, and Jewelled Girdle was a close fourth, followed by Tybalt, Gay Streak. Miss Lu, Rona Bay, and Star Artist. Faso Robles thoroughly deserved his _ victory, as he was not well placed early.

Sir Abb was first to begin from Cheyal de Volee and Erndale, and made play from Erndale, Rerepal, Palustre. Rollicker, and Cheval de Volee. Sir Abb entered the straight Just ahead of Erndale, who was closely followed by Rerepal, Palustre, Lornacre, and Rollicker. Sir Abb more than held his own in the last furlong, and won easily by two lengths from Rollicker, who finished solidly on the outside. Lornacre battled on to be a creditable third. Erndale was fourth. Next to finish were Palustre, Inver, Triune, and Whakapara. Sir Abb, who became affected in the wind and with bleeding trouble some time ago, has retained his speed, and this was his first success after a long spell. Surella was to have started, but when his trainer went to saddle him he found him to be lame in one foot and the gelding was .withdrawn, ... A Solid Finish It was with a solid finishing effort that Gappy scored narrowly at good odds in the Buckland Hack Handicap, for which Clooneen and Dragon Moth were the favourites. Clooneen was smartest to begin from Gappy, High Star, Ohmaha, and Chief Lap, High Star running to the front after a furlong to lead across the top from Ohmaha, Clooneen, Gappy, and Bronzette, High Star showed the way into the straight to Ohmaha, Clooneen, Gappy, Bronzette, and Chief Lap. It appeared as if Ohmaha would win when he headed High Star In the straight, but he was outstayed by Gappy, who beat him by a nose.
