SOUTHBRIDGE A credit balance of £3 8s 5d was shown in the statement presented at the annual meeting of the Southbridge Women’s Institute, over which Mrs R. F. Pilkington presided. Mrs Pilkington was appointed delegate to tne Dominion conference, and Mesdames W. G. Hill and G. M. Doyle delegates to the Federation meeting in Christchurch next month. An invitation to assist with the Poppy Day appeal in the interests of returned soldiers, received from the Ellesmere Plunket Society, was accepted. . , The following officers were elected: —President, Mrs R. AKAROA ; The eighth annual meeting of the Akaroa Women’s Institute was held recently. report and balance-sheet were adopted. MASON’S FLAT

At the fifth annual meeting of the Mason’s Flat Women’s Institute, Mrs C. E. Mason presided. The annual report and the treasurer’s report, showing a satisfactory credit balance, were adopted! During the afternoon Mrs C. Masoa presented a gift from the members to Mrs Iverach, who is leaving .the district. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: —President. Mrs W. J. J. GERALDINE New officers were elected at th» annual meeting of the Geraldine Women’s Institute. Mrs hj. S, R. King, the retiring president, presided. The new officers are:—President, Mrs John JBaguley; committee, Mesdames A. G. Bryant, J. H. Lewis, A. Mackay, C. E. Rose, R. Tagg, C. A. Mayston, J. Waller, and J. G. D. Willcocks, and Misses L F. Haskins, M. Walker, and W. F. Williams. , The president of the South Canterbury Federation (Mrs L. E. Williams) gave an interesting talk on federation matters. The possibility of another institute pageant was discussed by Miss E. L. J. Davies, who has recently returned from England. A prize for most points in the various competitions conducted during the year was won by Mrs H. Bailey. MOANA The annual meeting of the Moana Women’s Institute was held on March 1. The election of officers resulted in Mrs Taylor and Mrs Breitstadt being re-elected president and secretary respectively, and .Mrs Feary treasurer, Mrs Rankin vice-president. McNaughton. Morel. Willis, and Miss Southorn. Mrs Collier and Miss Southorn were chosen as delegates to attend the annual West Coast Federation Conference to be held in Greymouth on April 29, and Mrs R. Sullivan as delegate to the Dominion Conference in Wellington in July. . Mrs Feary won the points prize with 23 points, Mrs Breitstadt being runnerup with 22. Mrs Breitstadt won the competition for bringing most new members. The outgoing committee were the hostesses.
