A DECISION QUESTIONED

CO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS,

Sir,—What was otherwise a splendid meeting at Lancaster Park on Saturday last was marred somewhat by the judge’s verdict in the 100 yards championship (men). Having an uninterrupted view on the east grandstand and in direct line with the tape, I with hundreds of others, was very disappointed when the verdict was given announcing Fitzsimmons as the winner. To. me it undoubtedly appeared- that Gordon had won, and this opinfon was borne put by the runners themselves (including Fitzsimmons), Who immediately approached Gordon, and shook him by the hand. When .he decision was given, Fitzsimmons must have been a . very surprised man. x think some explanation should be forthcoming. Yours, et £’ ISGUSTED . March 5, 1938.
