WHEAT MOISTURE
* _ TESTING STATION CLOSES AT ASHBURTON After being operated at Ashburton for the last five weeks by the officer of the Wheat Research Institute (Mr R. Gibbons), the wheat moisture testing plant, placed at the disposal of the institute by Mr E. Buchanan, was closed on Saturday. A total of 958 samples of wheat passed through the station at the rate of about 200 each week, but as most of the harvest is complete in the Ashburton district, there was a substantial decrease in the number of samples to be tested towards the end of last week. Because of the wet weather last week, most of the wheat sent in to the station did not comply with the standard moisture requirement.
