Mrs W. ' Meii'in ("Balmoral," Lagmhor), who has 'been visiting her' aunt, Mrs R. Garstang (Murray Aynsley ■ Hill), will return home next week. Miss June McPhail (Manchester street), who has been the guest of Miss Patsy Talbot (Fairlie) returned home yesterday. Miss Ma| Gillespie (Melbourne), who. is visiting Mr and Mrs C. Morrison (Cashmere Hills), will leave Christchurch on her 'return journey to Australia on March 18. Miss M. A. Coltart, who has been the guest of the Misses Campbell (Woodbridge road), will leave today to visit Misses K. and G. Armstrong (Timaru) before sailing from Bluff on March 21 en route to India, to resume her missionary duties. . Mrs Campbell Gebbie (Leinster road) has returned from a visit to Sydney. Dr. and Mrs Edgar Reay (Durham street) will leave Christchurch on March 16 to join the Wanganclla at Wellington for Sydney. They will be away for about a month, and while in Australia Dr. Reay will attend the conference of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. In the series of summer matches played at the Christchurch Ladies' Golf Club, the stroke match was won by Miss N. Frater (seniors) and Miss B. Tonkin (juniors). Miss Frater made a net score of 70, thus reducing her handicap. Miss Eileen Ford (Dunedin), who has been spending a few days with her mother, Mrs Ford (Bishop street), left with her sister, Mrs M. McCormack, last night to join the Mariposa for a visit to the United States and Canada. At the monthly meeting of the Christchurch branch of the National Council of Women, Miss M. G. Havelaar (president), on behalf of members, presented a hat box to Miss I. M. Jamieson, and wished her a happy holiday with her relatives in Scotland, and a pleasant voyage. Mrs F. King (Cashel street) will leave shortly for Wellington to welcome home her nephew, Mr Colin St. John Reid, who has been on a world tour. While in Wellington, Mrs King will be the guest of her brother, Mr Stuart Reid. Miss M. Boyce, 0.8. E., who will leave shortly to take up a new position in Wellington, was entertained at a farewell morning tea party by Miss L. Pike and nurses of Essex Home. A parting gift was presented to Miss Boyce by her friends. Amongst those present were Misses H. E. Newman, M. Gow, Margaret Jones, Hamilton, L. Pike, R. Cox, Beatrice Broadhead, A. Gale, and Mrs R. E. Newman.

A pleasant morning tea party was given by the nursing staff of Essex Home, in honour of Miss Ruby Cox, who will leave by the Rangitiki next week for a holiday visit to England and the Continent. Miss L. Pike (matron) presented the guest* of honour with a souvenir gift from those present, with good wishes for an enjoyable holiday. Those present included Miss R. Cox, Mesdames D. Gordon, E. Cholerton, A. Grigg, R. E. Newman, Misses L. Pike, A. Page, Marjorie Pemberthy, Beatrice Broadhead, Agnes Gale, Ola Hawkins, and H. Cholerton. Miss Dorothy Cock has returned to Christchurch, after spending a holiday with Mrs W. R. Maxwell, Upper Waitohi, Temuka. Mrs S. R. Gawith (Masterton) is the guest of Mrs Hugh Webb, Papanui. Miss Jean Coleman (Redcliffs) will leave for Wellington to-night, and on Monday will join the Awa- • tea for a short holiday visit to Sydiney. Mr and Mrs'S. Adkins, accompanied by Mrs E. The Papaniii-Merivale sub-branch of the Plunket Society has arranged a Plunket afternoon party to be held in the gardens of Mrs W. Thacker and Dr. and Mrs E. D. "Pullon, Church lane, Merivale, on Thursday, March 10. at 2.30 p.m. At the annual meeting of the Canterbury Women Teachers' Association held.last night, motions of sympathy were passed with Miss M. Johnston, in the death of her mother, Miss A. C. O'Brian, in the death of her father, and to the relatives of Mr P.
