A QUICKLY-GROWING PLANT

TO THE EDITOB 09 THB PBESB. Sir—The rare plant which is shown ori ybur picture page to-day is very beautiful, *but may not be quite so rare as you were led to think. At the moment of writing, I can see tout beau, tiful specimens from my window, and there are, within a few hundred yards, r should say, upwards of a score of these plants, most of them almost in full bloom. Towards the end of last year, I had a lovely one in my garden, a different variety from those in bloom now, which are like the one you show in the paper. It grew at the rate of six inches a day, and looked like a giant

which lengthened each day and were hung with showers of creamy €reen blossoms. It was truly a lovely sight. As soon as it reached its full glory, it commenced to die at the base, and in a few weeks was gone. It must have been between 20 and 30 years old when it bloomed.—-Yours, etc., CLIFTON HELL. Sumner.
