POLICE CARNIVAL IN SYDNEY
NEW ZEALAND CONTINGENT CHEERED (Received March 5, 12.30 ajn.) SYDNEY, March 4. In the first all-Australian police march ever held in Sydney, more than 1000 members of the NewSouth Wales Police Force paraded in the city to-day. Seventy New Zealand police participated, and received a lusty cheer. Thousands lined the route of the procession and saw an inspiring display of bronzed, athletic men and glittering mobile equipment. The New Zealanders were near the head of the procession, which was led by mounted constables, and included the well-known police dc* Tess, and a number of Alsatiar* from the police kennels. The occasion was the police contribution to the 1938 celebrations. It is being continued to-morrow, with the biggest police carnival in local history.
