MINESWEEPER IN DOCK The minesweeper Wakakura was placed in dry dock yesterday for cleaning and painting. She is to sail on Saturday for Akaroa. . Borough Council The Lyttelton Borough Council met last evening. Present, the Mayor (Mr F. E. Sutton). Crs. R. Fenton, G. S. Morris, T. B. Hempstalk, J. D. Sargentina, R. Cairns, W. T. Foster, and J. N. Neville. The Mayor said that because of a request made by the council, the Railway Department was having the yard at the entrance to the railway station asphalted and the staff employed was making a good job or it. He moved that a letter of thanks be sent to the district traffic manager. The motion was seconded by Cr. Morns and carried.
On the motion of Cr. Morris, it was decided to place a tablet to the memory of Mr J. R. Webb, a former Mayor and councillor of Lyttelton, in the wall of the garden reserve, near the bandroom in Simeon quay. Cr. Morris said that among the many good works which Mr Webb had done for Lyttelton, was the preserving of many odd comers and banks for beautifying purposes and his remarks were endorsed by other councillors.
