YOUTH ACCIDENTALLY, SHOT DEATH AFTER ADMISSION TO HOSPITAL A shooting fatality, occurredi inl the Waimakariri riverbed on M™ when John Bissett Clark, aged 16. of 39 Clifton street, Aldington was ac cidentally shot, and later died in the r'v.ri'strhurch Public Hospital. Ch c r iark h waf out with some companions near the Harewood golf links xae others began shooting at a target and Clark is believed to have crossed their line of fire after paying them. A bullet entered his neck. He was taken to hospital by St. John. Ambulance and died yesterday njormng. An inquest for identification will be opened to-day before the Coroner (Mr E. C. Levvey). MOTOR-CYCLIST INJURED TIMARU MAN PICKED UP I UNCONSCIOUS Kevin Guilbert, aged 24, whose parents reside at 170 Otipua road, Timaru, was seriously injured at Ashburton on Saturday afternoon, when his motor-cycle skidded and he was thrown heavily to the road. He was picked up unconscious and was admitted to the Ashburton Public Hospital with concussion and abrasions. Last evening his condition was reported to be serious. Guilbert, who had been harvesting at Lyndhurst, was passing through Ashburton on his return to Timaru when the accident occurred.
MAN KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR
Fairly serious injuries were received by Mr Roy Ayers, aged 46, of Kaiapoi,
when he was knocked down on the Kaiapoi road on Saturday night. Mr Ayers suffered a compound fracture of the left leg, laceration of the skull, and concussion. He was taken by St. John Ambulance to the Christchurch Public Hospital.
ELDERLY MAN KNOCKED OFF BICYCLE
Head injuries were suffered by Mr James Pettigrew, aged 63, of 11 Watts road, Sockburn, when he was knocked off his bicycle by a car on the Christchurch side of the Sockburn railway crossing about 10.45 o'clock last night. Mr Pettigrew was taken to the public hospital by the St. John Ambulance. He was reported to be not in a serious condition.
BOY DROWNED WHEN BOAT CAPSIZES (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEOBAM.) AUCKLAND, February 27. A boy, aged rine, was drowned, and his two companions were saved only by the prompt action of' bystanders when a frail sailing craft capsized in Freeman's Bay. The victim was Albert Henry Metcalfe,
