"HOITY-TOITY"

. «. REVUE AT THEATRE ROYAL In the new Connors and Paul revue, now showing at the Theatre Royal, the number and variety of the acts more than satisfy the expectations of the audience. The show is lavishly and tastefully produced; spectacular song and dance scenes are interspersed with bright comedy sketches, acrobatic turns, and there is a range of vaudeville acts of every kind, making it appear that it would be impossible to think of any form of entertainment that had been left untouched. The personalities of Mike Connors and Queenie Paul give a unity to the whole performance. The humour is in the capable hands of Syd. Beck, whose hearty manner and f'.air for burlesque keep the audience in high good spirits from beginning ito end. After an effective opening scene in which the ballet provides a very effec-

tive background for Beck, Connors, and Cecil Scott, the comedians have the stage to themselves in a hilarious farce, "On Trial." A brilliant piece of contortionist dancing by Davendo stands out among the items that follow, and he appears again with Paulette in an outstanding ballet scene, "Love, You Funny Thing." A vaudeville show has to reach a very high standard before it will satisfy a modern audience,. but there is no question of the success of this revue. The producers understand how to appeal to every taste, and they offer a show which deserves and will undoubtedly receive the approval of the public. Prominent artists in the company are the Seven Flying Elmars, Mile. Paulette the "Fan" dancer, and Davona and Paula hail from Paris—the former, from Moulin Rouge ballroom, and'the latter two from the Folies Bergeres.. Moran and Wiser, comedy jugglers from New York, provide another entertaining turn in a good all-round performance.
