Leaves change colour in autumn because of the decaying chlorophyll, or green colouring matter, undergoing chemical changes, and to the exposure of pigment cells formerly covered. The moon is accompanied by a shadow which averages 232,000 miles in length. Sometimes this, shadow touches the earth, as the moon passes between the earth and the sun, and then-the-earth has a solas eclipse. '
