* JOE LOUIS WINS IN THREE ROUNDS NATHAN MANN BEATEN BY SAVAGE ATTACK (Received February 24. 9.20 p.m.) NEW YORK, February 23. Joe Louis (14st 41b) knocked out Nathan Mann (13st 11 Jib) in the third round of a 15-round title bout at Madison Square Garden. Louis was cautious in the first round, but in the second he opened up. He swarmed all over Mann, a right to the head flooring Mann for the count of nine. Louis was beating Mann unmercifully at the bell. Mann suffered terrific punishment in the third round, being down for the count of three. Louis continued a savage attack on his helpless opponent, finally flooring him with a right to the jaw. There was an attendance of approximately 20,000 people, most of whom cheered Mann. Boxing critics called the fight “the most savage two-fisted onslaught in history.” Mann tried desperately to make a good fight, but pitifully lacked power to halt the champion's smashing attack.
