PREPARATION URGED ON GOVERNMENT ADDRESS TO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE (PRESS ASSOCIATION TiLBGBAJt.) AUCKLAND, February 24. Par from preventing war, the League of Nations was showing tendencies in the opposite direction, said Mr w. «- Fee, in his presidential address at tne annual meeting of the Auckland Chaxober of Commerce to-day. Nevertheless, he added, the League might he organised on a sounder basis in the future. , , , . It was the duty of New Zealand to follow the lead of Britain at present in preparing its own defence force to protect its shores. , Chambers of Commerce were pleased that the Government had undertaken this preparation in some measure ana would stand behind any further move that would allay uneasiness about tne weakness of the Dominion's defence.
