FITZGERALD STATUE
♦ ANOTHER NOTICE OF MOTION FOR CITY COUNCIL Another notice of motion relating to the Fitz Gerald statue has been given by Cr. T. Andrews, chairman of the City Council’s reserves committee. The aim of the notice of motion is the . same as that of his notice of motion tabled at the last meeting of the council and ruled out of order by the Mayor (Mr J. W. Beanland). Notice given yesterday by Cr. Andrews asks for the rescission of all motions on the council’s books dealing with the statue, and for the acceptance of the statue by the city. Tlie notice of motion, which will be considered when the council meets on March 14, is as follows: — “That all previous resolutions relating to the statue of the late James F Fitz Gerald now included in the council’s minutes be rescinded and that the statue be accepted by the council and erected on a site to be selected in Fitzgerald avenue.”
