BOY SCOUTS

The Boy Scout Movement is now nearly 30 years old, and scouts of the early days are becoming middle-aged men, many of them with boys of their own. Even so, 30 years is a short time for the growth which the movement has seen. Soon after it was started, “8.P.,” now Lord Baden-Powell, was in conversation with' King Edward VII, ‘who suggested that scouting should be made copyright so as to preserve it for British boys. “8.P.” replied that he could not imagine anyone else wanting the idea. To-day' we are told that the world total of boy scouts is approaching 3,000,000, and 4& countries, counting the British Empire as one country, have scouts of their own.
