A recognition of the work of the Canterbury Progress League in helping to bring about the completion of the Lewis Pass road has been received by the president of the league (Mr F. Coop) and its secretary (Mr P. R. Climie). It is a medal on which is depicted two clasped hands, symbolising the union by the road of the Canterbury and Westland provinces. The medals are the gift of Mr P. J. McLean, president of the Grevmouth Chamber of Commerce.
