WEDDINGS

MOOAR—WILSON The marriage took place recently at St. Luke's Church, Oamaru, of Gilbert George, third son of Mr and Mrs L. Mooar (Christchurch), to Edna Grace, third daughter of Mr and Mrs G. Wilson, Oamaru. Archdeacon Russell performed the ceremony, and Mr Bury was organist.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a trained frock of parchment lace patterned in a rose design. The bodice of the frock was softly draped in front and caught at the neckline with a spray of orange blossom, and the long sleeves were finished with tiny satin buttons from the elbows to the wrists. A panel inset at the back 6t the skirt was beautifully embroidered and formed a long fan-shaped train. Her embroidered veil fell from a halo of pleated tulle outlined with tiny buds of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of sweet peas and arum lilies. The bridesmaids were Miss Marie Chisnall and Miss Vera Smith, both of Christchurch. Their frocks of powder blue lace in leaf design had shirred bodices, finished with silver roses from the neckline to the waists. The skirts were panelled and formed slight trains. They wore also pleated silver halo head-dresses, and carried bouquets of delphiniums and scabious.

Misses Shirley and Beverley Mooar (Christchurch). the bridegroom's small nieces, were flower girls. Bofh were dressed alike in ankle-length frocks cf pale pink crepe de chine weighted at the hems with three rows of frills. Pink sashes defined the waists. They carried posies of pink sweet peas to match their frocks.

The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr Albert Mooar (Christchurch) as best man, and Mr Spencer Haxell (Christchurch) as groomsman. A reception was held in the Lyric Hall. The bride's mother received the guests wearing a trained frock of black silk lace, and a matching straw hat. Her posy was of pink roses. The bridegroom's mother wore a brown ensemble and a smart brown hat, and carried a posy of deep red roses. The bride travelled in a smart navy Rimmer weight coat, a navy frock, and a navy straw lat trimmed with small white flowers. Mr and Mrs G. G. Mooar will make their home in Fendalton.

ROBINSON—HOBBS

At St. Barnabas' Church, Fendalton, the wedding was celebrated recently of Gwendolyn May. eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. T. Hobbs (Fendalton), to William Albert, eldest son of Mrs Jackson, and the late Mr Robinson, Christchurch. The service was fully choral and was conducted by the Rev. Mr Kreef (Wellington), Mr McAlden was organist. Friends of the bride had decorated the church with hydrangeas and gladioli. The bride was escorted by her father. Her trained frock of ivory Cordelia lace was mounted on satin and had inset godcts of satin. The neckline was softly cowled and was caught with a spray of orange blossom, and a cowled capelet was of satin. Her embroidered tulle veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of cream gladioli, roses, and abutilons.

Miss Dorothy Winter, the bride's cousin, and Miss Ruth Hobbs, attended as bridesmaids. Their frocks of nectarine brocade, over delustred satin, were made on classical lines, and sashes, knotted at the back of the waistlines, extended to the hems. Their leaf coronets of tulle toned with their frocks, and they carried bouquets of sweet peas, carnations, and polyanthus roses.

Miss Ngaroma Hobbs, youngest sister of the bride, wore an eau de nil organdie frock, embroidered in pink, and a pink organdi hat. She presented her sister with a lucky horseshoe. Mr M. Robinson and Mr C. Shackel attended the bridegroom. At the reception, held in St. Barnabas' Schoolroom, the bride's mother

received her guests, wearing a black floral crepe de chine frock patterned in pastel tints. Her hat of black gramophone straw was swathed with black and grey georgette and relieved with a spray of pastel-tinted flowers. Her bouquet was composed of shot silk roses and gladioli. The ■ bridegroom's mother wore a navy and white ensemble and a navy gramophone straw hat trimmed with navy and white cire ribbon. Her flowers were red roses. When the bride left for a tour of the North Island, she was wearing a navy pin-striped suit, a cream blouse, and a navy gramophone straw hat trimmed with a spray of red flowers, and an eye veil. Mr and Mrs W. A. Robinson will make their home in Christchurch.

DEACON—BUTLER

A wedding of interest to friends in Christchurch, was celebrated recently, at First Church, Dunedin, when Edgar Horace, second son of Mr and Mrs E. S. Deacon, Teddington, England, was married to Meda Ella, second daughter of Mrs C. D. Butler. North-east Valley. The Rev. W. Allen

Stevely officiated, and Dr. V. E. Galway was organist. A frock of powder blue georgette was worn by the bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr Kenneth Butler. Her picture hat was of blue organdie, and she carried a bouquet of pink roses. Mrs P. G. Monk (Christchurch), youngest sister of the bride, attended as matron of honour, wearing a salmon pink georgette frock, a stiffened lace bolero, and a halo hat of lace to match. She carried a posy of sweet peas. Mr McLeod (Wellington) was best man, and the ushers were Lieutenant P. G. Monk, and Mr J. Lamont Mr and Mrs E. H. Deacon will live in Christchurch.

SUMMERTON—M'LEOD

The wedding took place recently at St. Mary's Church, Halswell, of Margaret Catherine, second daughter of Mr and Mrs H. J. McLeod (Halswell), to Norman Victor, thifd son of Mr H. Summerton and the late Mrs Summer* ton, Beckenham. The Rev. N. A. Friberg performed the ceremony, and Mr R. G. Baker played the wedding music. Friends of the .bride had decorated the church for the occasion

The bride, who was escorted father, wore a trained frock of cream satin made with an Elizabethan collar and heart-shaped neckline, the bodice being finished with a panel of shirring and a tiny posy of orange blossom. The high pleated sleeves were tapered to form peaks over the hands, and the fitting skirt flared to form a long oval train, over which was arranged her veil, falling from a halo of pleated stiffened tulle. She carried a shower bouquet of cream lilies, roses, and carnations. Miss Hazel Summerton, sister of the bridegroom, wore a Nile green taffeta frock, and Misses Mavis and Alice McLeod, sisters of the bride, wore frocks of taffeta apricot The frocks were made with pointed panel effects, the skirts being fully flared to the hemlines. The simple fitting bodices had high puffed sleeves, and upstanding collars were edged with double I'ouleaux trimming, caught with a posy to tone. Their halo headdresses were of pleated tulle to match their frocks, and their bouqeuts were of apricot roses and maidenhair fern. Mr E. J. McLeod attended the bridegroom.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the Mayfair lounge. The guests were. received by the bride's mother, who wore a navy frock patterned in conventional design, a selftoned coatee, and a navy jack-tar straw hat. Her bouquet was of red roses. When Mr and Mrs N, V. Summerton left by car for the north the bride was wearing a lido blue frock of satinbacked French crepe, a navy taffeta hat. and a tailored coat.

WEBSTER—LEVIBN

Miss Letty Levien, daughter of Mr and Mrs Lindo Levien, London, and Mr Daniel Garcia Webster, only son of Mrs Webster, Heretaunga, and the late Dr. Garcia Webster, were married on Saturday afternoon in the garden of "Dirleton," Mr and Mrs Guy Williams's home at Heretaunga. The Rev. Father F. H. Walsh, D.D., performed the ceremony, Mr J. C. Peacock gave the bride away, Mr Dick Wardell was best man, and Messrs Douglas McHardy and Denis Blundell were groomsmen.

The bride wore a pearl tinted satin frock, tulle veil, and halo of orange blossom, and carried a bouquet of Christmas lilies. The bridesmaids— Misses Margot Peacock, Joyce Nathan, and Pamela Fell, the bride's cousinwore pink chiffon frocks and real flowers in their hair.

MORRISON—DUGGAN

West Coast friends will be interested in the wedding celebrated at St. Mary of the Angels' Church, Wellington, of Moira. only daughter of Mr and Mrs G. Duggan, Miramar, and Lawrence Keith, only son of Mr and Mrs H. Morrison, Petone. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by Dr. G. H. Duggan, S.M., assisted by the Rev. C. F. Duggan, S.M., both brothers of the bride, and Dr. F. Rasmussen, S.M., uncle of the bride, was present in the sanctuary.

The bride wore an ivory satin frock, cut tulle veil, and coronet of orange blossom, and carried a sheaf of Madonna lilies. Miss Dorothea Faris (Dannevirke) and Miss May Menzies (Wcstport), cousin of the bride, were bridesmaids. They wore ciel blue clogue frocks and wreaths of delphinium, and carried bouquets of pink larkspur. Mr J. Bethell was beskman. and Mr C. McCawe was groomsman. Mr and Mrs L. K. Morrison will live at Lower Hutt.

BIRTHDAY PARTY

A number of friends gathered at the home of Mr and Mrs J. Krakowski (Avonside drive) on Saturday evening to celebrate the birthday anniversary of their daughter Joyce.

The time was spent in dancing and singing. Mr W. Higgins was master of ceremonies.
