MOTORCAR FALLS 200 FEET
OCCUPANTS ESCAPE INJURY
[THE PRESS Special Service.l WESTPORT. January 21, Four occupants of a large sedan c&t, Mr and Mrs S. McAra and Mr Arnold Beck, of Greymouth, and Mr E. Pattinson. of Runanga. who were travelling from Christchurch to Greymouth yesterday, had a narrow escape from serious injury when the car left the Lewis Pass road to fall 200 ;Vet into a gully. Falling, rolling, and somersaulting, the car in its descent was smashed to wreckage, only its steel roofing saving the occupants from serious injury.
WOMAN SUFFERS BROKEN LEG
ACCIDENT TO CAMPER NEAR WAIMATE
[THE PRESS Special Service. 1 WAIMATE, January 21. Slipping down a steep hillside at Kelcy's Bush, where she was a member of a camping party, Mrs Pettigrew, of Timaru, suffered a broken leg yesterday and was admitted to the Waimate Public Hospital. The accident occurred in the evening, and those manning the stretcher had great difficulty in conveying Mrs Pettigrew to the ambulance by torchlight after Dr. A. G. Pitts set the limb in splints.
