Historic House To Be Rebuilt DECISION OF MR J. H. GRIGG The Longbeach homestead, one of the best-known residences in the Dominion, which was destroyed by fire on November 15, will be rebuilt at an early date. Situated about 16 miles from Ashburton, the building comprised 33 rooms and was an imnosing two-storeyed structure in brick, with stone facings, built in the style of many of the old English homes. The owner, Mr J. H. Grigg, said yesterday that several experts had examined the walls, which were two feet thick, and had been constructed of bricks made on the property 40 years ago. There was some doubt about the soundness of the walls, as no cement had been used i the mortar and the bricks came away clean when taken out. It was proposed to use the undamaged bricks for the new homestead, of which plans were being submitted by Mr Heathcote Helmore, ot Christehureh.
