SAND CASTLES

We are staying a month at Waikuku Beach in our caravan and tent. We came before Christmas, and had Christmas dinner here.

We have a bathe every day, and sometimes the breakers are so strong they carry me off my feet. Some people bathe with surfboards. One day my friend Colleen, and I made a beautiful sandcastle in the sand, and decorated it with flowers and shells. It had a spire on it, too. When we had finished we went up to call mother to see our afternoon's work. Just as we came down the hill two little boys knocked it all down. My father has put up a swing under the trees so I can spend a happy time swinging. —BEVERLEY AMYES, Rangiora.

HOLIDAY TIME

This morning Juliet Deans and June Deans (who are also Shipmates) and I went for a bathe, but

we didn't stay in long because it was too cold. —CATHERINE FULTON, Okuku Pass, Rangiora.
