STANLEY McKAY'S "GAIETIES"
NEW REVUE TO BE. PRESENTED TO-DAY
The third completely new revue of the Stanley McKay's "Gaieties" Company. "Serenade," will open at the matinee at St. James' Theatre this afternoon at 2.30.
; Because of advance bookings in i Dunedin, Wellington, and Auckland the ! season in Christchurch this year is j limited to four weeks, and the company will give its final performance (here on Thursday, February 3. I The show to be staged to-day is entitled "Serenade," and., as in previous 1 offerings is a pot-pourri of clever comjedians, excellent singers, pretty ballet girts, outstanding specialities, beautiliui dressing, and the last work in staging. Joe Lawman, whose word is now a household word in Christchurch, lis the leading comedian. He is ably I supported by Geo. Corelli, Elton Black, | Wyn. Edgertoii. and Alice- Bennetts. The two last-named and Leo Trenette present a number of delightful song scenas, including "When My Dream Boat Comes Home." and "A Tale of Happy Days," a colourful presentation written and produced by Geo. Greig, of the Popoular Hilo Duo. Cliff O'Keefe the well-known basso, will lead his male quartet, the Big Four, in "Campfire Melodies." Geo. Greig will play the piano. The outstanding specialities are contributed by Heather Wright, Fredo Freres. James, Elvy, Les Diamondos, j and the popular Hilo Duo. j Patrons are advised to book early at 1 the D.1.C., where the plan may be | seen until noon, after which seats may be reserved at the theatre. On Sunday night the Gaieties Company will appear in a concert in aid of the funds of the Municipal Band. seats for which may be reserved at the St. James' Theatre on Sunday afternoon.
