STOREKEEPER FOUND DEAD
MEDICAL EVIDENCE AT INQUEST An inquest into the death of James Nimmo, a storekeeper, aged 39, who was found dead at his home in Springfield on January 13, was held before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M., and adjourned sine die, to await the result of a post-mortem examination. Nimmo had died in bed at his home, and a bottle of acid was found beside him. Evidence disclosed that he had had no financial worries, and had given no indications of contemplating taking his life. Dr. C. E. Rcid, of Darfield, said that when he arrived at. the house Nimmo had been dead for 15 minutes. A bottle of acid lav beside his bed, and it was obvious that he had drunk some of its contents, as his lips, tongue, and mouth were burned, and he smelt strongly of the acid. Hugh Nimmo, a brother, Agnes Nimmo, a sister, who said that her brother had had a bad cold and had been quieter than usual, and slightly depressed, and Constable L. Fox, who said that inquiries had revealed nothing to indicate that Nimmo was worried or was contemplating suicide, also gave evidence. I
