SITE FOR BOAT HARBOUR
MAGAZINE BAY FAVOURED Magazine Bay as first choice, and Diamond Harbour as an alternative, —■ere considered possible sites for a boat harbour at Lyttelton by a conference of interested parties called by the Lyttelton Harbour Board. The conferencee, which was called by the board, and was attended by representatives of the board and of yacht and power-boat clubs, was presided over by the chairman of the board (Mr R. T. McMillan). The conference, the recommendations of which have to be approved by the board, discussed various sites. The Diamond Harbour proposal was put forward as alternative in the event of the 1 Magazine Bay project proving too costly or too difficult from an engineering point of view. These tions have to be considered by the board. Yachtsmen said that any increase in mooring fees would probably cause some men to give up the sport. ,J* Diamond Harbour were chosen, trie possibility of a subsidised ferry service would have to be considered, as tne present service would then be maae-| quate.
