WOOL STORE WORKERS ON STRIKE

♦ DELAY IN ANNOUNCING AWARD (PEE** ASSOCIATION TELBOEAJK.) NAPIER, January 19. Dissatisfied because the Arbitration Court has not yet announced their award, 400 wool store workers in Napier ceased work at 1 p.m., after a lunch-hour meeting. AWARD TO BE MADE RETROSPECTIVE (TRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, January 19. “I understand that trouble at Napier has been caused by the Arbitration Court's delay in announcing the award, which the men expected before Christmas,” said the Minister for Labour (the Hon. H. T. Armstrong) tonight. "The delay has been unavoidable. I have been in touch with members of the Arbitration Court, and they have assured me that the matter will be gone into when the Court sits at Auckland on Monday. The award will be made retrospective, so the men will lose nothing.”
