* PROTECTION AGAINST X-RAY RADIATION (Received January 19, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, January 18, The discovery of a new alloy, nearly one and a half times as heavy as lead and a correspondingly more effective protection against X-ray radium radiation, has been revealed by Mr E. Liddiard, of the British Non-ferrous Metals’ Association. The alloy is composed of tungsten powder mixed with nickel and copper powders, subjected to considerable pressure, and heated above the melting point of copper and nickel.
