MAN SERIOUSLY WOUNDED
Sheath Knife Used POLICE MAKE AN ARREST Stabbed in the throat with a sheath knife about 9 o’clock last evening at the corner of Madras street and Moorhouse avenue, Thomas Hawtin is in a very serious condition at the Christchurch Public Hospital. An arrest has been made. , Very few particulars were available last night, but it is believed that Hawtin and his son, who is a taxi-driver employed by Gold Sana Taxis had an altercation with two men at the corner of Madras street and Moorhouse avenue, and that there was an affray there, which resulted in Hawtin, sen., being wounded. . Hawtin was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital by the St. John Ambulance, accompanied by a constable. Early this morning, however, his condition was too serious to allow of his being questioned by the police.
