PLAN FOR PURCHASE OF DUTCH TUG
♦ LYTTELTON HARBOUR BOARD
A tug from the Dutch shipyards may be Imported by the Lyttelton Harbour Board. Mr R. T. McMillan, chairman of the board, reporting to the annual meeting yesterday, said that plans for a new tug had just arrived by air mail from England. Mr McMillan said he understood that there was a substantial difference in the prices of construction in England and on the Continent, and it had occurred to him that since Dutch yards were reported to be able to give a very favourable quotation for diesel vessels, the board might wish to make inquiries from them. It was decided to discuss the purchase of a tug at the next meeting of the board, and that Mr McMillan should make inquiries of relative costs.
