NEW PIG GRADING REGULATIONS

OBJECTION FROM NORTHLAND

COUNCIL

(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEURAU WHANGAREI, January 19. The Northland District Pig Council has opposed the new grading regulations which come into force shortly, without length of carcase being taken into account.

The following telegram has been sent to the Director-General of Agriculture:—“ The Northland Pig Council views with alarm the Gazetting of the pig grading regulations on February 1, with a total disregard to length, and respectfully suggests that the Gazetting be postponed until an opportunity has been given to submit further evidence on the necessity of including length in the regulations.” The secretary stated that grading without length was a retrograde step and it would be a big mistake to allow the regulations to be Gazetted as they stood.
