« — CAPTAIN T. S. WESTQH The death occurred in London at Saturday of Captain Thomas Swflur Weston, formerly Commodore Of New Zealand Shipping Company, ft had been in ill-health for about a year. _ Captain Weston was bom in Dosedin and was educated at the Otagi Boys’ High School. He was approliced to the New Zealand Shippini Company about 1878, and served fir some time in sailing ships. Early a this century he was in command *f the Waikato when that vessel W adrift for about six weeks with ■ broken tail shaft, while on her way from Cape Town to Fremantle Captain Weston was given his command at an early age. and remained with the New Zealand Ship ping Company all his life. He ba command of several troopships offing the war, and was in charge of the Hurunui when that vessel sunk when it was nearly Home. » retired about seven years the position of commodore with O® company. . . ‘ Captain Weston was mSmed « Christchurch to Miss Edith Oart « Temuka, and is survived by ms vro. He is also survived by a dauffltgwho married Dr. Gilmour. of Wellington. and a son who is living itt msdon.
