Summonses served within one mile, 32 (31); outside one mile 19 (19); judgment summonses, 14 (7); civil summonses served by registered letter, 19 (4). Criminal cases heard, 21 males (22); females, 0 (0). Children’s Court cases heard, 6 males (7).
MOTOR-TRUCK RUNS OVER
BANK
SOMERSAULTS FORTY FEET
INTO GULLY
While engaged in carting fertiliser and travelling along the ParnassusWaiau road; a heavy motor-truck, owned by Mr J. Abernethy, and driven by R. McKnight, of Cheviot, plunged over a bank and somersaulted to the bottom, a drop of 40 feet. The trouble was caused by engine failure. The driver suffered injuries to his back and a few bruises. The truck was badly damaged.
