Turnover on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday was moderate, but business was well spread. Prices moved irregularly.

A late sale of Standard Insurance on Monday was reported at 595. Goldsbrough. Mort were easier with business and sellers at 31s lid, buyers at 31s 9d. N.Z. Refrigerating (10s paid) (cum div.) were firmer with buyers and business at 9s 2d. Sellers of Carlton Brewery entered the list at 66s 6d, but buyers were reticent. Tooths Breweries were firmer on buyers’ offers, 555. Miscellaneous Australian Glass were fractionally firmer at 33s 3d, closing quotations 3d on either side. Broken Hill Proprietary were weaker with sellers at 635. Colonial Sugar changed hands at £4B 15s. and more were offered at that price. Electrolytic Zinc (pref.) were fractionally weaker at 51s lid, closing quotations Id on cither side. G. J. Coles on (he morning call changed hands at 83s and 85s 6d: on the afternoon call dropped to 83s 6d, sellers slaying in at the lowest price: buyers at 83s Id. N.Z. Drug Company wore weaker with sellers at 70s. ißuyers’ offers for N.Z. Fanners’ Co-op. Stock revealed a firmer market. Woolworths had dealings at 25s Bd, 25s 7d, 25s 6d, 25s sd, market closing 25s 4d buyers, 25s 6d sellers. Woolworths (N.Z.) were firmer with sellers and business at 20s 9d. Mining Broken Hill South rose to 375, but closed with sellers at 3Cs 6d, buyers at 36s 3d. Mount Lyells were stronger at 33s lOd and 33s 6d. RANGIORA .Except in the cattle section: where only one animal was entered, there were better yardlngs at the weekly stock market In Rangiora yesterday than at previous sales this year. Good prices were realised for sheep, but there was a fall in the demand for pigs, which brought up to 3s a head less than last week. Fat ewes brougnt from 14s to 21s. fat wethers from 24s lOd to 26s lOd, wether hoggets 19s. rape lambs from 18s to 18s 3d. and aged ewes and lambs (all counted) 8s 7d. In the pig section, porkers made to 52s fid, slips from 21s fid to 24s fid, good weaners from 15s fid to 19s fid, and small weaners from 11s fid to 14s. A dairy cow realised £8 10s. - TINWALD There was a good yarding of fat ewes at the Tinwald stock sale held yesterday, i The top price for fat ewes was 20s Id for j a line of 10 sold on account of W.
