DIAMOND JUBILEE

CHRISTCHURCH GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL Mrs Edwin Hamilton, president of the Christchurch High School Old Girls' Association, Mesdames G. Maginness, N. Bates, R. Glen, Misses E. Comyns Thomas, J. Hobbs, R. Harris, members of the committee, met yesterday at Mrs Hamilton's home, Papanui road, to discuss plans for the continuation of the diamond jubilee celebrations which were begun a few months ago. It was decided to hold a big reunion of old girls at the school, when the new wing is opened on February 9. The most novel of many attractions will be a display of "cookery through the ages," showing dishes popular in each decade of the school's 60 years of life. This section will be in charge of Miss Watson and Miss T. Dunlop. On the following Saturday, Febru-ry 12, at Mrs Hamilton's home, an old girls' garden party will be held. Displays of drill will be given and there will be exhibition tennis matches, showing the changes in the style of dress and in style of play. Players in long skirts, high collars, and sailor hats tied down with "motor veils" will show that they enjoyed the game as much as do the modern girls, who, wearing the shortest of shorts, will give an exhibition of more dashing methods.
