WOOL DEARER IN SYDNEY INVESTMENT MARKET ACTIVE Better descriptions of wool were from par to 5 per cent, dearer at the reopening of the Sydney wool sales yesterday, when smaller offerings were made and the descriptions remained <irm. It appears unlikely that the allocation of 28,000 bales for iie first wool sale of the Canterbury season will be filled next Monday. A number of growers have decided to hold their clips, but the great majority ppear to be prepared to meet the market. The wool has opened up very well, and is light in condition and free from fault. The hogget wool, of which a heavy weight is to be offered, is good, but not up to the exceptional standard set last year. The Australian investment market is cheerful, with good business passing. Prices are trending higher. A fair turnover was done in Christchurch yesterday, with values in sellers' favour.
