OBITUARY

MR DUNCAN MCRAE

The funeral of Mr Duncan Mcßae took place on Monday. Mr Mcßae died suddenly at his home on Friday. The funeral service was conducted by Canon H. O. T. Hanby. The pall-bearers were Messrs U. ±Jyron, P. Hart. M. Gerry, and Ling. The chief mourners were Mrs M^ e (widow), Noel Mcßae (son), Mrs Harbutt (daughter), Mrs F. Taylor (sister), Mrs J. Jarden (sister) Mrs W. Colhngwood (sister), Mr W. Howley (stepson), and Mr A. Howley (step-son). Mr Mcßae was a member of the Lyttelton Licensing Committee, a former member of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, and a member of the Australian Naval Reserve. Among those who sent wreaths were Mrs Taylor and family; Mr and -Mrs J Jarden; Mr and Mrs W. Collingwood and family; Mr and Mrs D. Gibson; Mr and Mrs A. C. Prattley; Mr and Mrs R. Fail; Mrs Rosinaski and family; Mr and Mrs W. Howley and family; Alf. and Millie; Annie and George; Mr and Mrs H. Taylor and family; Charlie and family; Mrs Carr and Marjorie; Miss M. Taylor; Mrs Evans; Mrs Austin; Mr and Mrs Swanston; Mr and Mrs Jones and family; Mr and Mrs Gatehouse and family; Mrs Roud and Bill; Mrs Bale and family; the Lyttelton branch of the Waterside Workers' Union; members of the Lancaster Park Cricket Club, and members of the Nomads Football Club.

The death has occurred of Lieuten-ant-Colonel George Alexander McLean Buckley, formerly of Christchurch.

Lieutenant-Colonel Buckley was a son of the Hon. George Buckley, of Keathcote. He attended Christ's Coi-ic-ge from IS7B to 1880, and was a boarder in Condell's House. While in Canterbury he farmed at Laghmor for a number of years, and was an en-, thusiastic follower of polo, owning a line string of ponies. He was a lieutenant in the First Battalion Hampshire Regiment, and later Lieutenant-Colonel in the Leinster Regiment; was created C-8.E., and awarded a D.S.O.
